Kisspeptin-10 is a peptide hormone in the Kisspeptin family that consists of 10 amino acids. Kisspeptin is an active fragment produced by enzymatic digestion of a precursor protein encoded by the KISS1 gene with Kisspeptin-10 being the shortest and biologically active form.
Kisspeptin plays a key role in regulating the reproductive system and sex hormone secretion, primarily by activating the GPR54 receptor (also known as the Kisspeptin receptor) in the hypothalamus.
