Oligopeptide-10 is a short bioactive peptide made up of 15 natural amino acids, and it has broad activity against many types of organisms, including acne-causing bacteria.

Oligopeptide-10 is effective against Propionibacterium acnes, which causes rapid cell death. It binds to negatively charged elements on the bacterial surface (lipoteichoic acids), allowing it to reach its main target-the cytoplasmic membrane-which causes lethal osmotic imbalance inside the bacteria. Because of this unique mechanism, the chance of bacteria developing resistance is very low, and even bacteria resistant to other antibiotics are still sensitive to oligopeptide-10.
