Minoxidil powder is mainly used to prepare topical formulations for treating hair loss (androgenetic alopecia, alopecia areata) such as lotions and foams. It was also used as an oral antihypertensive drug (vasodilator). As a potassium channel opener, minoxidil can dilate blood vessels, increase local blood flow, and directly stimulate hair follicle cells, prolonging the hair growth phase.
