Decapeptide-12 has significant whitening effects, but because it's highly water-soluble and has a large molecular weight, its transdermal absorption has always been limited. Recently, Escape Therapeutics Inc. obtained multiple international patents for this ingredient delivery technology.

Researchers increased the lipophilicity of decapeptide-12 by adding a palmitate chain and combined it with chemical penetration enhancers, effectively boosting its penetration through human skin. Tests using in vitro skin penetration models show that applying the modified peptide (palm-peptides) via microneedle patches is currently the most effective way to achieve high-efficiency transdermal delivery.
