4-Butylresorcinol Descriptions

Tyrosinase plays a key role in melanin production because it controls the rate of melaninization. 4-Butylresorcinol has an inhibitory effect on melanin production, by directly inhibiting the activity of tyrosinase, as well as inhibiting the synthesis of tyrosinase in B16 melanoma cells, without causing any cytotoxicity. In some in vitro studies, 4-butylresorcinol has been shown to inhibit the production of melanin, as well as tyrosinase activity and TRP-1.

4-Butylresorcinol Mechanism of action

Before melanin synthesis, it interferes with the synthesis and glycosylation of tyrosinase to prevent the enzyme from being absorbed by melanosomes.During melanin synthesis, it inhibits the activity of enzymes and acts as a competitive inhibitor of tyrosinase and TRP1 enzymes, reducing the by-product formation that promotes melanin origin.
After melanin synthesis, it improves tyrosinase degradation, inhibits the transfer of melanosomes to keratinocytes, and has a light peeling effect due to the action of fatty acids, which is enhanced by the presence of fatty acids and regulates the degradation of tyrosinase.
