Selank peptide is a synthetic derivative of the human body's naturally produced tetrapeptide Tuftsin. It is a hexapeptide whith a wide range of uses. It was first sinthesized in the late 1990's by the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Russian Academy of Science. Selank peptide is used as an anxiolytic in the therapy of anxiety and phobic disorders, including generalized anxiety. Its action is similar to that of mild benzodiazepins but without the sedative effects. As a selective anxiolytic with a nootropic component, Selank peptide can be used as treatment of depression, fear and general anxiety. Selank peptide also reduces phsychic tension. This neuropeptide has passed all phases of clinical trials and is now being prepared for registration and mass production.
