Alpha Arbutin , also known as arbutin, chemical formula C12H16O7, is a component extracted from the rhododendron plant bearberry leaves, which can prevent the production of melanin by inhibiting the activity of tyrosinase in the body, thereby reducing skin pigmentation, removing stains, and also has bactericidal and anti-inflammatory effects.

Alpha Arbutin is extracted from bear berry. It is a biosynthetic active ingredient that is pure, water-soluble and is manufactured in a powder form. As one of the most advanced skin lightening ingredients on the market, it has been shown to work effectively on all skin types.

Every time your skin comes in contact with UV light, tyrosinase is activated. Alpha Arbutin blocks the activity of tyrosinase by slowing down the pigmentation process caused by UV rays. This helps your skin keep dark spots and tan at bay.

Under normal circumstances, the concentration of arbutin added does not exceed 10%, basically will not cause side effects on the skin, generally the concentration is between 5%-6%, and the upper limit of the concentration of arbutin added in skin care products is 7%. Arbutin decomposes under acidic conditions to produce harmful substances, so avoid using it with products such as VC, salicylic acid, and fruit acid.
