Lypressin , also known as vasopressin and vasopressin, is a cyclic peptide hormone produced by supraoptic nucleus neurons in the hypothalamus.Lysopressin acetate is mainly used in the clinical treatment of diabetes insipidus and esophageal varicose vein hemorrhage, as well as in the differential diagnosis of central diabetes insipidus, renal diabetes insipidus and mental dysphoria.

Lypressin Physiological effects
Antidiuretic: ADH binds to specific receptors of the renal distal convoluted tubules and collecting ducts to become hormone-receptor complexes, activates adenylate cyclase, converts ATP into cAMP, activates protein kinases under the action of cAMP, phosphorylates membrane proteins, increases the permeability of renal tubular epithelial cells to water, and water is passively reabsorbed along the osmotic gradient.
Blood pressure rises: ADH contracts the smooth muscles of blood vessels and internal organs, producing a pressurizing effect. Synthetic ADH can be used to treat bleeding from esophageal varices.
Excitatory ACTH release: ADH has an adrenocorticotropic hormone-releasing factor (CRF)-like effect that promotes the release of ACTH, and may stimulate ACTH release by acting directly on the anterior pituitary gland, but it is not CRF.
In animals there is a memory-enhancing effect. In experimental rats, it promotes glycogen decomposition and inhibits fatty acid synthesis.
